Everyone using the facility during these
practice times should rigorously adhere to the following regulations:
1) There is to be NO pole vaulting, hurdling, basketball, or throwing implements of any kind.
2) NO ONE should stand still in any of the seven lanes of the oval at any time.
3) NO ONE should step into any lane of the track without first looking both ways and making sure that there is adequate space to enter the lane and accelerate without forcing anyone else to change his/her direction or speed.
4) ALL running and walking on the oval should be done in the counter-clockwise direction.
5) Practicing relay exchanges on the oval is permitted ONLY at the end of the practice.
6) The following rules should be strictly and carefully adhered to:
--No one using the sprint straightaway should enter or cross any lane of the oval.
--All passing in lanes 1 – 4 should be done on the RIGHT of the runners being passed.
--LANE 7 is for slower UNTIMED running and walking, including the children’s program.
--LANES 5 and 6 are for faster UNTIMED running, including recovery jogging by the athletes running timed intervals in lane 4.
--LANE 4 is for members of the Chargers’ competitive teams running times intervals. When these athletes shift from a timed interval to a recovery jog, they should decelerate directly into lanes 5 and 6. When they make the transition from recovery jog to timed interval, they should safely enter lane 4 from lane 5.
--LANES 1, 2, and 3 are for other athletes running timed intervals (i.e., high school athletes, adult individuals, members of the Impalas, and supervised participants in the Chargers youth program). When these athletes shift from a timed interval to a recovery jog, they should decelerate directly into the infield and jog their recovery interval entirely in the infield. When they make the transition from recovery jog to timed interval, they should safely enter lanes 1-3 from the infield.
FOR THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE ON THE TRACK,
PLEASE KEEP THESE GUIDELINES IN MIND THROUGHOUT EVERY SCHEDULED PRACTICE
SESSION!
